“I believe healing begins at the roots. Let me help you understand how your past has shaped your present in a safe, comfortable space, where life’s most difficult challenges can be explored with confidence and care.”

Maggie LaBarbera is a Licensed Associate Counselor in New Jersey who provides psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and families. She believes healing begins by understanding the roots of who we are—how our life experiences, relationships, and environments shape the way we think, feel, and respond to the world. With warmth, curiosity, and compassion, she creates a safe, comfortable, and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore even life’s most difficult challenges.
Maggie works with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and life stressors, helping them recognize patterns, build insight, set meaningful goals, and develop healthier coping strategies. She has specialized training and certifications in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Sand Therapy, interpersonal skills, and neurodivergence, tailoring treatment to each client’s unique needs.
As a Certified Sand Therapy practitioner, Maggie helps clients of all ages process emotions and heal through expressive, hands-on therapy. Sand Therapy is especially beneficial for children, offering a developmentally appropriate way to communicate experiences that may be difficult to put into words.
Maggie has extensive experience supporting neurodivergent children and their families and is knowledgeable about ADHD, autism, IEPs, 504 Plans, and Individualized Service Plans for K–8 students. She works closely with parents to help them better understand their child’s unique brain, strengthen connection, navigate behavioral and emotional challenges, and develop practical strategies that foster confidence and success at home and at school. She also leads a psychoeducational support group for parents of neurodivergent children, empowering families to better understand and advocate for their child’s unique strengths and needs.
Through a holistic, collaborative approach, Maggie empowers individuals, couples, and families to build resilience, strengthen relationships, improve communication, and create meaningful, lasting change.
